Compare Inground Pool Safety Covers
Staten Island gets freezing cold in the winter months so closing, winterizing and covering your pool is a necessary part of your pool maintenance. Safety covers not only cover your pool but give you piece of mind over the winter when it comes to safety in your backyard. When deciding on a safety cover material, remember they work differently while both providing protection for your pool. The two types of materials are mesh and solid. Pool Doctor Contractors of Staten Island are qualified, experienced and professional installers of all safety covers. Following is a description of the different covers.
Solid Covers: In area with heavy snowfall, like in Staten Island, solid covers can withstand the heavy amounts of snow. All sunlight is kept out of the pool when covered with a solid safety cover. No sunlight makes it very difficult for algae to grow in the swimming pool. When it comes to the solid safety cover an automatic cover pump is necessary not only to pump excess water off the cover but to meet the safety cover ASTM safety standards. The cover pump eliminates puddling on the cover. Solid covers prevent anything from getting through to the pool water, your pool should open up as clean as the day you closed it.
Solid Covers with Mesh Drains: These safety covers have mesh panels on the cover to allow water to pass through preventing puddling and not requiring a pump. The fine mesh panels filter out mostly everything except the tiniest sediment. on occasion you may need to clear away large debris off the panels such as leaves to allow the water to pass through.
Mesh Covers: These safety covers are light weight and are known to maneuver easier than the solid versions. Water passes through the mesh covers preventing puddles from forming and creating a safety hazard. The mesh does prevent debris and leaves from entering the pool. Mesh allows fine sediment to pass, enter pool and settle on the bottom. Upon opening the pool it should be easy to vacuum the sediment away. Remember mesh covers allows sunlight through, so algae can and will grow in the warmer months. Pool Doctor highly recommends opening your pool before the warm months approach and your pool becomes a growing place for all types of algae.
Whatever your cover decision may be remeber safety first.
